Welcome to the Junction!

Growing up in a small town in North Carolina, I learned very early on what a Junction was. A junction in my eyes is a place where we have to stop and figure out where we are going and what we are doing. Welcome to the Junction, where life's choices and little things are to be explored!

The Art of Snoring

I never realized my dog could snore louder than my husband….   Well y’all za’ hubby is in the field training.  Sidenote:  I made the mistake once upon a time of asking “what kindof training” and him being a smartypants and having watched the Bill Murray move “Stripes” one too many times answered with…. “Amy training Sir”.  I never asked again….  Now the dog snoring.  My precious little pup weights about 50 lbs.  He is the sweetest thing on 4 legs, except when the sun sets and the moon starts to rise in the sky.  Then he becomes a terror of the night with this earth shattering….snoring.

And I never realized it until I made the mistake of letting him sleep in the bedroom with me one lonely night while za’ hubby was away.  That eventually turned into sleeping in the bed with me.  and he takes up more room than za’ hubby  does, just so y’all know.  He also snores louder than za’ hubby.  Well the other night I was all alone in my little ol’ government owned quarters, aka on post housing, aka apartment, aka the downfall of my demise.  And my sweet little angel, Rowdy (note the sarcasm) was begging for mama (me) to pet him.  Well I did, and he then nudged, and nudged again until he made his way on the bed snuggled up at my feet.  And then it happened….snoring. At first I thought it was a train coming through my bedroom, then I realized it was indeed the little angel himself, snoring.  Today at my junction, I am in need of ear plugs.

Rowdy, our

This is our 1st and only child....Rowdy.  He keeps a watchful eye on the Junction.

He's an Australian Shepard that doesn't heard or like livestock.  And is very lazy, which we love.

He can be an excellent watchdog, when he wants to....which isn't often.

Waiting at the Junction

Today at the Junction I learned about waiting and babies.  And pregnancy.  And the joys of motherhood.  And the parts they don’t tell you either.  Here recently I have felt the pains of “baby fever”.  My husband and I have been married for some time and we are stationed on an Army Post.  I feel like they should just ask as an in-processing question “Hey are you knocked-up?”   But being polite gentlemen as most soldiers and Civilian workers try to be its stepped around.  As well as my family.  Im from a good ol’ southern family that has two goals in life: 1.  Work hard.  2.  Populate the world.  And being a good ol’ southern girl myself I realize that it was only a matter of time after I got “hitched” to my sweetheart that baby fever would set in.  And it has.  But here recently I have been thinking all about babies.  I have read the book What to Expect before your Expecting and even watched Movies like “The Pregnancy Pact”.  I have made friends that have small children and I have taken an interest in offering free baby-care to give this a trial run….  I have learned two things:  1. They smell.  They have more bodily substances than chickens have feathers.  2.  They are cute for about a minute and then they start to smell.  Now I don’t want y’all thinkin’ I am against babies.  I love them.  They are Gods special creatures.  One day I might be mama-material, but until then, im going to continue to read my books, watch other peoples kids…. for about a minute, and enjoy my glass of wine with za’ hubby, and the dog.  So today at my junction, Im learning to wait and have fun doing it!

Patience in the Junction

There are a few things in this world I love doing.  One is reading and the other is gardening.  I adore both and don’t get to do either that often.  When I do do them, I love to take my time.  I can spend hours on a porch swing reading about the adventures of “Joe-smo-from-cocomo”.  And I can spend hours playing in a garden.  Watering and digging in the dirt.  Maybe it’s the only acceptable way as an adult that you can get dirty, hehe!  I love watching what I do produce some sort of product.  Its fulfilling, putting in so much time to something and watching as it pays off in the end.  My dog on the other hand….im all impatience.  At my junction today I realized If I can put so much time into a tomato, why cant I do that with my dog or even my husband?  What makes the two most important men in my life besides God and my daddy drive me bonkers when Im in a hurry?   Today Im going to work on patience at my junction, because in the end I know it will “all work out in the wash” (and maybe even get za’ hubby to do the dishes J)!

Welcome to the Junction!

At the Junction of any Railroad crossing there is bustling of people and a sense of hurry that entraps the most unique individuals.  It is almost guaranteed that human interaction is at its most primal when trying to get where your going.  All senses are heightened, all conservations seem extremely important, the hustle and bustle thrills every part of you.  It is when we stop to make a conservation, watch a family stick together, do a good deed, and look within ourselves do we become humbled in the moments of our life.  It is at those moments that we learn to breath, come to find happiness, and live.  No matter where you are at in life, you will always be at your very own junction.   The people you meet, talk to, and things you do at your junction all help to get you to where your going in life.  It is by choice that we figure out how we get there, but we have to start somewhere and that’s where our journey begins.  At our very own junction.  Welcome to mine.
